School of the Future is an innovative educational space situated within the retail store "Walls" in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Tasked with reimagining the existing structure while adhering to its exterior constraints, the design approach centers on accommodating the unique needs of the deaf community through thoughtful spatial interventions. By utilizing a modular arrangement of circles on a grid, a winding form that not only offers expansive views through its live roof but also eliminates sharp edges, fosters a sense of openness crucial for individuals with heightened visual sensitivity. The strategic incorporation of windows throughout the design fosters a seamless connection between the interior and exterior spaces, enhancing visual communication and navigation for deaf students.
